New Site, New Beginning
Recently rebuilt the entire website architecture and design, mainly with AI assistance. Through intensive use lately, I've had some new thoughts and reflections.
The Catalyst for Website Reconstruction
When I first built this website, I searched online for templates for a long time. The styles were diverse, and even the architectures were all over the place. After searching for many days, I eventually had to compromise on some requirements.
Recently, after using AI to completely develop and launch my first Chrome extension, I suddenly had an inspiration: why not use AI to completely rewrite this website?
Technical Requirements and Challenges
No sooner said than done! After several more days of fine-tuning, this time it took much longer than the extension project, mainly because I had quite a few requirements:
- Light/dark theme adaptation
- Multi-product landing pages
- Blog system
- Main site image & text multilingual support
- Blog post Markdown & image multilingual support
- Full static site generation
- Product and blog post SEO optimization
- Mobile adaptation
- Full site URL social media sharing card support
- RSS generation
After more than a week of polishing, it's finally done! 🎉
From ChatGPT First Experience to Today
After this experience, I was truly amazed by AI.
A few years ago (wow, it's already been three years!) when OpenAI first launched ChatGPT, I only used it to search for content and generate code snippets, which felt quite convenient.
It also helped me, with zero Apple ecosystem development background, gradually learn Swift and develop my first iOS app. Not only the development, but even the app store submission process was completed step by step with AI assistance. That feeling was magical, like an upright ape 🦍 suddenly sprouting wings, opening up a new world while my mind was still catching up.
From Wings to Jarvis Leap
Through recent new project development, I've found that it's now even more powerful. I feel like I've become an upright ape with Jarvis from Iron Man. Without any Chrome extension development experience, and without manually writing any code throughout the entire process, I developed and launched a Chrome extension.
Because AI today is no longer just simple conversation or code completion - I can communicate with it entirely through natural language to complete an entire project development step by step.
Reality Check and Future Planning
Clear Self-Awareness
However, after the excitement, I realized that obviously, I don't have Tony Stark's genius intellect. I'm just an ordinary programmer, just an ordinary person who caught the internet wave. I feel like I'm about to lose my job.
But despite this, I'm not particularly sad or anxious, because I've always believed that life's main task shouldn't be working. This kind of life where you have to go to work rain or shine, take sick leave when you're ill, and even request time off for big life events like marriage and having children - it's quite backwards. Life is only about 30,000+ days, and I think I should pursue more possibilities.
Vision for the Future
After planning my "redemption" (resignation), I'll embark on several years of nomadic living, to see different worlds and meet different people. I'm not the type who can stay completely idle - if I really did nothing, that state would make me more anxious than unemployment.
After all, I still love coding, or rather, I love product creation. With AI's assistance, I have more opportunities to turn past or future ideas into action, creating tangible products. So even after my "redemption", I'll continue tinkering with little projects. Haha, stay tuned!
